{"id":159,"date":"2009-09-20T22:04:19","date_gmt":"2009-09-21T03:04:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.apluscompsci.com\/blog\/?p=159"},"modified":"2009-10-10T11:30:44","modified_gmt":"2009-10-10T16:30:44","slug":"cs-news-high-school-cs-contests-help-boost-enrollment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.apluscompsci.com\/blog\/cs-news-high-school-cs-contests-help-boost-enrollment\/","title":{"rendered":"High School CS Contests Help Boost Enrollment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In Texas, we have lots of Computer Science contests &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.apluscompsci.com\/cs_cont_list.htm\">Texas CS Contest List<\/a>.\u00a0 I find contests very worthwhile and fun.\u00a0 My students typically feel the same way.\u00a0 We typically attend 8 &#8211; 10 contests per year and host a contest at my high school in the spring.\u00a0 If you are looking for a way to get more students excited about Computer Science, consider hosting a contest and getting other area schools to do the same.\u00a0 I have found contests to be a very quick way to boost enrollment, especially once you establish a winning tradition.\u00a0 All students want to be a part of a winner!
