Java Examples

I provide java example files for every topic that I cover.

In each of the power point presentations, I periodically reference a section of java code.   Once I have discussed and explained the code section, I have the students open the corresponding java file and run it.   I then instruct the students to make some minor changes to the code to make sure that they understand the code and how the changes affect that code.

I post all of my these java files with the presentations on my school's student server.   Many of my students work ahead of the class and go through the power point slides and examples on their own as they need them.  I strongly encourage students to view the slides and examples before I go over them in class.   Many of my students also take the slides and examples home and use them to study and review for tests and quizzes.

I only use the slides, notes, and java examples that I have created when teaching Computer Science at my school. My students have tremendous success at contests and on the AP exam. I do print the slides with notes pages out as handouts so that each student can make additional notes on the printed slides.
